Turkish bank starts banking transactions over Russian ruble |
|
A Turkish participation bank started on Monday banking transactions over Russian ruble, the bank said.
The Turkiye Finans, a participation bank, launched a new banking service for people or institutions that make trade with Russia.
Customers of Turkiye Finans can open ruble accounts, and make their export and important transactions over ruble.
Turkiye Finans (Katilim Bankasi) was founded following the merger of the companies Family Finans and Anadolu Finans.
By a decision of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency in 2005, permission was granted for the merger of Anadolu Finans Kurumu, owned by Boydak Group, having leading companies in the furniture, home textile and cable sector, and Family Finans, owned by Ulker Group, the worldwide giant in biscuit, chocolate and various food products.
As a result, the Boydak and Ulker Groups, two leading large groups in Turkey, voluntarily combined their companies Anadolu Finans and Family Finans, serving the finance sector, on December 30, 2005 under the name of "Turkiye Finans Katilim Bankasi" to keep up with global economic conditions and to be much more serviceable to Turkey.
60 percent of the shares of Turkiye Finans, now serving over 1 million customers at 178 branches and with over 3,200 employees, was acquired on March 31, 2008 by The National Commercial Bank (NCB), the largest bank in Saudi Arabia and one of the leading banks in the Middle East.
As of December 31, 2008, the bank's total assets were 7.1 billion Turkish liras (TL). (One USD equals 1,5300 TL)
